[ Acacia Education Centre ]

The Acacia Educational Centre continues to run smoothly. All new things have a time of adjustment, but we have been blessed with little to no hiccups! In fact, we have almost outgrown our space. We are beginning the search for a much larger space that will allow growth over the next three years. We aim to find the new space by August.  We also understand the area we serve in is a high poverty area, in which we do need to ensure that the place is secure. Unfortunately,  stealing is a constant problem in Kibera Slum.

The lack of food is always an issue for families in Kibera. People are desperate to feed their families and will do anything to make sure their children do not starve. Wouldn't you? When you begin to understand how vulnerable and desperate someone can be to steal, prostitute, or even hurt someone to feed their families, your eyes are opened. Although one can never agree or accept that it is okay to do any of those things, but one can understand the desire to protect and care for his or her family.  We do our best to feed the children who come into our centre, but it is never enough. With 300,000+ orphans the need is great.
