[Reusable Pads Sustainable]

A UNICEF estimates that one in ten girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss school during their menstrual cycle. By some estimates, this equals as much as twenty percent of a given school year. Many girls drop out of school altogether once they begin menstruating. Some may return and some may not, depending on their family circumstances.

It is no secret that places like Kibera Slum in Kenya has a gigantic pollution issues. If a girl can afford to buy pads, there is not a proper way to dispose them in the slums in Kenya.

That is why a number of organizations in Kenya have moved to reusable pads. Not only does a kit last two to three years, it ensures that no female needs to drop out of school. This increases her chances of survival and success. Beyond that, Acacia of Hope can feel comfortable in not aiding the pollution issue of where we serve.
