In Kibera, the second largest slum in the world, a new science lab is coming to life. What was once an empty classroom is now filled with locally built lab tables, carefully measured spaces for sinks, and channels cut into the floor to bring in water and electricity. Skilled workers from the community designed and constructed the metal frames right outside the classroom, and each step is being completed with patience and precision so the lab will serve students well for many years.

This transformation is possible because of the partnership of the Birtcher Family Foundation. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and their belief in the students of Kibera. Because of this support, students will soon have a space where they can experiment, explore, and discover a love for science in a fully equipped environment.

Sinks are now being installed, countertops are nearly complete, and the vision is becoming reality. This lab represents opportunity, dignity, and a future filled with possibility for the young people who will learn here.
