“At least there is hope for a tree:
If it is cut down, it will sprout again,
and its new shoots will not fail.
Its roots may grow old in the ground
and its stump die in the soil,
yet at the scent of water it will bud
and put forth shoots like a plant.” –
Job 14:7-9

Our name, Acacia of Hope, is two-fold. The word “Acacia” comes from the popular Acacia tree that can be found all over Africa. Its gorgeous silhouette is used in paintings, movies (the Lion King), and photos. Its beauty represents the beauty of the people of Africa. Once you get close to the tree, it is covered in long thorns to protect itself. We see this as the strength of Africa. What makes Acacia trees so unique is that it can withstand long droughts. In fact, it is common to see a sea of brown land during a drought, but see specs of green from the Acacia trees. To us, this represents that although there are hardships in Africa, the people are strong and can withstand anything that comes their way. The word “Hope” was chosen because it is our desire to instill hope in the lives of anyone we come into contact with.

Our mission is to empower the people of Africa spiritually, educationally, and economically and our name shows just that.
