Accessing clean water in Africa can be incredibly challenging, with many communities relying on contaminated sources that pose serious health risks. The scarcity of reliable water sources often forces people to travel long distances or use unsafe water for daily needs. The reality is that 40% of Africans do not have access to clean drinking water and is one of the main causes of death in Africa (WorldBank).
To address this problem, there are two main solutions: deep wells or water filtration systems. In densely populated areas like Kibera Slum, water filtration is the only viable solution. Acacia of Hope has solely been focused on providing family-sized water filters, providing access to clean water for the next ten years, but we desire to see children have more access to clean water.
For every $1200 raised, we are able to install a water tank and school-sized water filter at a needy school. This allows every child in that school to have access to clean and pure water for the next ten years.
